buck·et list

  1. a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime.
“making this trip is the first thing on my bucket list”
You hear the expression “bucket list” a lot these days. Everyone has hopes and dreams of certain things they want to accomplish before they hit the //bucket//. It is so important to feel fulfilled in life. There is nothing like being at peace with yourself and the way your life is progressing. NOTHING. I find my fulfillment through my love for Christ and my unending love to my family. But even I have a list of things I would love to accomplish during this short time on Earth! The Earth is gorgeous, wondrous, miraculous, amazing, splendorous!! The Earth is full of unending beauty and I sure as heck would love to see more of it.

I don’t have a written list of things I want to accomplish, but I have a few things I have dreamed of accomplishing for a long, long, time. And I will. I just know it.

1. Visit the Amalfi Coast.

Amalfi, Italy. This place just seems magical to me. It is absolutely breath taking. I am half Italian which does make me want to visit my ancestral background.. the fact that this place is GORGEOUS definitely helps. Really, I would like to tour most of Italy. I want to be a full out tourist. Comfy shoes, camera strapped on my side and all. I want to see Rome, Florence, Sicily. I want to see it all. My mom and I talk about going “Talk” so maybe one day it will happen. I talk to Julian about my crazy traveling dreams, and he does indeed think I am crazy sometimes. He always says he has never met someone who thinks of somewhere else they want to go every other day. It may be true. I love traveling, and sometimes I get the travel bug BAD.

2. Swim in a previous Olympic pool.

I want to swim in a pool where Olympians have swam. Is this one weird? HA. All of my readers know, I am obsessed with water and all that comes with it, especially swimming. I want to swim where people have made history in a swimming pool. Seeing a nice swimming pool just makes me giddy. Quick side note: last week we were giving ASU new ideas to improve the school, someone suggested a lazy river in the gym. Needless to say I was all for it, it did give me a good laugh too.

3. Paris, France

What girl doesn’t dream of going to Paris. Honestly when I watched the movie Devil Wears Prada I was 1000% positive that I had to visit Paris. It had never really struck my fancy, but something about that movie made me know that Paris was going to be added to the bucket list.

Before I Die, I Want To.....

That’s it for now lovelies. This girl has been putting homework off, and now I have to get to it while I enjoy my coffee and the morning sun. Until then! – Ashley

Everyone has those bad habits, those habits you know you should break, buuut they are now a part of you and you enjoy them. I myself have a few bad habits. Before I was married I did not see some of these habits as bad..they were just things I had always done. After reflecting a little I now realize they were //bad// after all.

First off, taking at least two showers a day. You’re thinking “is that really that bad”, well no it’s not. Until I get into the three, four shower range a day. Now you’re thinking “how the heck does someone have time to take that many showers”. Well I am talking quick showers. I always take a pretty quick shower in the morning and sometimes between classes I just feel dirty and I take another quick shower. Then there is my night time shower. It is my little piece of bliss. I take undeniably long showers at night. They are so warm and calming and they put me to sleep. Julian thinks I am out of my mind. He doesn’t understand how someone can take so many showers and use so much water a day… oops.

Not to mention I wash my hair twice a day…I know that’s not good…no wonder why my hair is an oily grease basket if I don’t wash it for a full day. Right?

My next bad habit is one I have come to find that a lot of people have. My excessive paper towel use. I use paper towels for everything. Wiping things down, washing off my hands, and everything else under the moon. And I don’t just grab one paper towel, no, I grab like 15 to get the job done. My mom always use to say, “why do you need so many paper towels to wipe off your hands” well mom you were right. I now realize my extreme paper towel love when I had to start buying my own paper towels. //Really guys I go through 2 paper towel rolls a week//

My other bad habit. Which I am still debating on whether this one can be considered bad. Getting out of the shower, THEN drying off. Why dry off in the shower?? I just don’t get it. The shower mat is OUTSIDE the shower so I can stand there dripping, taking my sweet time to dry off. Maybe even walking around the house dripping wet while brushing my teeth. Water dries. That is my only argument. Water dries, and it is my guilty pleasure to walk around half an hour still wet from my shower. This girl just loves water.

<– My dream.

This next habit isn’t as bad as it is strange. Needless to say when I brush my teeth I look like a rabid animal. I do not neatly squeeze toothpaste onto my toothbrush then neatly brush my teeth. NO. I put about three quarter size squeezes on my toothbrush and go to town. I go in small circles. I go up and down. I go back and forth. While the whole time there is toothpaste running down my face, all over my mouth, and pretty much everywhere else but on my toothbrush. Julian thinks it is absolutely hilarious, he will seriously watch me brush my teeth he finds it so amusing.

Well that is it for me today! I hope you all enjoyed reading about my bad/strange habits!

Have a blessed day my friends! – Ashley

To kick of this post I wanted to share with you guys this absolutely adorable pallet coffee table that Julian and Gabe built me! It took them about 3 hours, but it only cost me $3.25, for a package of nails! Now I am all for do it yourself projects and saving a few bucks so when Gabe offered to go find some random pallets in some random alleys (hopefully they were not being used or someone’s actual property, if so…oops, thanks for the coffee table) because he had heard me complain a few times about not having a coffee table. I was all for it! It came out so perfect! It looks so great in our little apartment living room.

Anywhoodle, I have been putting a little thought into my New Years resolutions. First off I have decided to go to NYC (New Year’s Conference) in Chattanooga, TN this year. It is a five day conference for Campus Outreach college students from all over the U.S. to gather and worship. We are going to listen to amazing speakers, hear great music, and get to explore the city! I am so excited! The event takes place from Dec 28- Jan 1, so I will be starting my year at the New Year’s party with over 2,500 college students..I am a little bit ecstatic!

new years conference

Julian isn’t going, but a ton of my friends are going and we cannot wait. Since Julian isn’t going we have decided to join Jacob and Forrest in Pigeon Forge after the conference ends. My aunt, uncle, and their son Ryan live there and us four are going to stay with them and explore the Rocky Mountains including going skiing, and whatever else the four of us stumble onto.

Needless to say my New Year’s resolutions include:

Going out and exploring new places and new things.

Opening my mind to new things.

And most importantly, spending more time growing in the Lord.

I have got to say my year is going to start off accomplishing all three of these resolutions. What are your resolutions?

These are a few of my most cherished “soul notes” . Sometimes you need inspiration and a little reminder that this life is beautiful and beloved.

Have a fantastic weekend lovelies. – Ashley

I graduated high school May 18, 2012. My graduation present from my parents was a trip with my mom to the Eastern Coast to enjoy some of my mom’s family and to really go exploring together. We left May 19th early in the morning to catch a flight in Little Rock. We had a 10 day trip ahead of us, lots of cash, bellies full of airport food, and mischievous smiles ready to board our plane. We made many stops along our trip. Including Baltimore, Jamestown, Washington D.C., Providence, and Oceanside. Yah…we were all up and down the East coast. And we had an absolute blast.

I had never been to Washington D.C. before and I couldn’t get enough of it. The busy-ness of the city, the train stations, the history behind it all, I loved it, I loved every inch of that city. I hope to go back soon and maybe bring Julian, I think he would enjoy it as much as I did.

My most awestruck moment: Seeing the Lincoln Memorial. Something about the massiveness of the Lincoln Memorial, the etched writing, the hard stone, and the hundreds of thousands of people who travel around the world to see this statue. It was amazing. It is breathtaking.

Jamestown, Rhode Island. In Jamestown we stayed at my aunt and uncle’s bed and breakfast “East Bay Bed and Breakfast”, it is absolute perfection. Jamestown is a quaint town with sailboats constantly coming into port at Narragansett Bay. It was beautiful. When we left Jamestown I knew without a doubt in my mind I could start a family and live their forever. It felt familiar and breezy. It did rain the majority of the time we were there, but something about that made it even sleepier and more magical to me.

That is all for now. So go out and explore. This world we live in is absolutely breathtaking. It’s not everyday that we become awestruck, but when we do we don’t forget it. There is nothing like discovring.

Have a blessed weekend. – Ashley

Noun 1. best friend – the one who is closest to you.

friend quote

The definiton for best friend says the one who is closest to you. As you all know, it is hard, almost impossible to have just one best friend. I have always had a lot of friends, people I could count on, people that I love to be around, they are my friends, my group. But I have always had that very small circle of best friends. Those friends that were closest to me, the ones that I could go to for anything. Those friends that never let me down. Those friends that never seem to leave your side over the years that past.

There are few people that when you reflect on the past you think “they have been by my side for a very long time, they are truly my best friend’ luckily I have been blessed with quite a few best friends.

My longest and most loyal best friend: my mom

My mom is incredible. My mom is the most amazing caregiver you could ever image. She loved me before I was even born. She has never left my side. She is hilarious. She is un-fearing. She is intelligent. She is beautiful. She is caring. She is a great wife. She is everything I hope to be. And she is one of my very best friends, she always has and always will be.

My most devoted and loving best friend: my husband

Julian has brought every inch of love into our relationship that I had hoped. He is forgiving. He is understanding. He is loyal. He is devoted. He is hard working. He is intelligent. He is caring. He is my voice of reason. He is my closest friend. Julian is someone that I know, no matter the trial, he will be there.

My longest childhood friend: my cousin

Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn is red-headed. Kaitlyn is bold. Kaitlyn is opinionated. But Kaitlyn is loving. She is caring. She is the best listener in the world. She makes me feel like I am home. She is smart. She is funny. She is thoughtful. She does not care what others think. She has the biggest heart in the world. Kaitlyn is my Kaitlyn. She is one of my closest friends.

Friends are so important. A few other people that are constantly by my side, that I can always count on to be my closest friends: My dad. Both of my brothers, Jacob and Daniel. My high school friend Jamie. And my memaw.

My friends are incredible. They are people that have attended every important moment in my life. And I will attend all of the most important moments in theirs.

I love you all, thanks for being my friend. – Ashley
